Crystallization of polyesters is orientation of the polymer chains at high temperatures in an oxygen free process. We have different technologies to convert polyesters from an amorphous state into a crystalline state. Different formulations of polyester have different rates of crystallization requiring different process technologies.
Polyester is a polycondensation polymer, so it is sensitive to degradation by moisture during processing. Therefore, it is essential to reduce the moisture level to below 0.005% (50ppm) prior to melting. This will reduce degradation to a minimum and eliminate fluctuations during processing.
Increase the IV
To improve the mechanical properties of polyesters it is necessary to increase the molecular weight (SSP). In order to avoid sticking during drying and SSP of amorphous, low IV modified polyesters, crystallization is required.
