Recycled PET
Support the circular economy by choosing raw materials from recycled PET
One of the most successful plastics is polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the material can be used to make bottles, trays and fibres for clothing. The most recyclable plastics are PET and HDPE. PET has an excellent environmental profile due to its lightweight and recyclability and it’s carbon footprint is less than glass and other packaging materials. Applications for recycled polyesters are growing each day. Recycled polyesters can be blended with virgin polyesters without losing properties in many applications. Together with the recycling know-how of Cumapol and the compounding expertise of our sister company DuFor we can also produce materials based on 100% rPET flakes. These recycled polyesters have at least the same quality, functionality, and feel of those produced from virgin polyester.
Custom made polyesters
Cumapol can process rPET flakes into valuable custom made polyesters, and making it again 100% recyclable, therefore contributing to zero landfill waste. Textiles, filaments, strapping and also packaging applications present excellent opportunities for the use of recycled materials. We are continuously improving our custom made polyesters.
Mechanical recycling post-consumer PET or post-industrial PET
Recycling of the polyester material is often done by shredding – washing - melting - which result in new polyester pellets - new product. With these techniques the color of the extruded output (polyester pellets) follows from the color of the waste input: clear PET bottles will lead to clear new material. Because mechanical recycling has the highes CO₂ reduction figures we are also exploring mechanical and chemical recycling of other polyester waste streams like polyester textiles and carpets.
